Episode 7: Special Geek Interview with Ann Grauer
Episode Summary
Robin sits down with Ann Grauer, AdvCD/BDT(DONA), AdvPCD/PDT(DONA), LCCE, FACCE, IBCLC, RLC, who in 2019 was marking thirty years of working with expectant, birthing, and new families. Ann is a past president of DONA International (2003 to 2005), created Wisconsin’s first hospital-based doula program, has consulted on programs in other states, and trains both birth and postpartum doulas through DONA and Lamaze educators through NYC Lamaze. She also received Lamaze International’s Elisabeth Bing Award in 2007.
This is a seasoned perspective episode. Ann walks Robin through the childbirth professional path the way someone who has actually walked it for three decades can. We talk about postpartum doula progress, what has changed about the work, and why a holistic view of our clients is not optional.
Ann is also a mom of two adults and Mamaw to one spirited granddaughter, and that perspective shows up in every answer. If you want to hear what longevity in this field looks like from someone who has done it without burning out, start here.
