In this tenth episode of The Birth Geeks Podcast, Robin interviews Sarah Juliusson to talk about all things website! Sarah Juliusson, also known as The Website Doula, is a website designer & developer for holistic practitioners and birth / postpartum professionals. She offers starter websites for new practices, and custom design for established practices and organizations, along with a DIY Website School and ebooks for those who want to build their own website with support. Sarah was a doula and childbirth educator for over 20 years before transitioning to her new role in 2011. She is also fluent in both English and Spanish, which naturally makes my bilingual heart swoon for her a little bit more. In this episode she and Robin talk about the content writing hamster wheel, different ways of getting unstuck in labor vs. content creation, SELF-CARE, the importance of chocolate, writing retreats, blocking out distractions and your inner judgment while writing, and the difference between mobile friendly and mobile responsive websites. Be sure to listen to the end for the special COUPON just for our listeners.
Total birth geek moment: I really appreciated their discussion about whether auto-correct will ever figure out the word doula? (I seriously doubt it since Google can’t even figure out my last name, but you never know.)
Robin & Sarah also talk about choosing your technology wisely, which of course lead to a discussion of whose favorite pen is the best. You can find each of our choices here:
