Ann Grauer has been a doula for over 30 years. She’s run the gamut from birth doula to childbirth educator and postpartum doula to internationally board certified as a lactation consultant. She knows a thing or two or twenty about the business of being a doula.
In this fun conversation with Ann we talked about so many things including a seasoned doula’s viewpoint, Ann’s childbirth professional path, pushing postpartum doulas forward, holistic perspectives on postpartum parents, the connection between privileged assumptions & the creation of stress. It was a pretty meaty conversation and we can’t wait to share Ann’s wisdom with you.
Here are some wise words from Ann:
“Parents have known for forever that they need help,…the issue is that people didn’t always know there was professional help.”
“And if we don’t start waking people up and realizing that this is more than just a task list to be completed, we are going to miss the boat completely & going to drive more and more people into depression and anxiety because of it.”
Recently Ann was asked to comment on doulas and earned a spot in an interview about Megan Markle and doulas on outlets like MSNBC and Yahoo!
